Makadi Water World
Makadi Water World is a dedicated water park in Makadi Bay with more than 50 slides by the park's count, from steep drop slides to slow pools, plus a separate children's area. The park sells adult, child (6 to 11 years) and family tickets, and online sellers bundle entry with lunch, soft drinks and a bus from Hurghada, El Gouna or Makadi hotels.
From Hurghada town, the drive south takes about half an hour or a bit more. That's why most people book a package with transfer rather than paying a taxi both ways. Arrive close to opening if you can; a park this size fills up as the transfer buses arrive, and the first hour is the quietest.
Neverland at Jungle Aqua Park
Pickalbatros Jungle Aqua Park, branded "Neverland", is an all-inclusive resort south of Hurghada, inland off the Safaga road. Its big draw is the slide park, which outside guests can visit on a day ticket. Packages from platforms usually include breakfast, lunch and soft drinks, with transfers from Hurghada, Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Gouna, Soma Bay or Safaga as an option. The resort lists heated pools in winter.
Because it's a hotel, you share the slides with resort guests, and day tickets depend on the hotel's capacity, so book ahead in school holidays. It's not on the beach: hotel guests take a shuttle to the sea, so plan this as a pool day, not a sea day.
Hotel parks with day use
Many resorts along the coast have their own slide parks, and some sell day use to non-guests at reception, usually as an all-inclusive wristband for the day. Agencies also sell day trips to hotel parks such as Sindbad Aqua Park, with transfer. The rules change hotel by hotel, and many only sell day use when they have spare capacity. If your own hotel has no slides, ask the nearest big resort directly before booking an expensive transfer to Makadi.
What to pack for a water-park day
- Water shoes or flip-flops: the ground between slides gets very hot by noon in summer.
- Strong sunscreen and a rash vest for children. Shade is limited near the slides.
- A small amount of cash for lockers, towels or snacks not covered by the ticket.
- For winter visits, a warm top for the walk between pools.
Check height and age rules for the big slides with the park on arrival. It's easier for a child to hear "no" at the gate than at the top of the tower.
Water park or a boat day
If you only have one day for the kids, it's a real choice. A water park is predictable: no seasickness, no wind cancellations, shade and food nearby. A family boat trip to an island gives them snorkelling and a beach but depends on the sea. On a windy day, the water park wins. On a calm day, it comes down to whether your kids would rather swim with fish or race down slides.
